Cruising the Inside Passage: A Peaceful Reflection to End Our Journey

As the rugged, towering peaks of the north slowly soften into the lush, emerald-green islands of the Inside Passage, a quiet sense of peace settles over the ship. We’ve spent the last two weeks together, traveling from the golden heart of Fairbanks down through the majestic wilderness of Denali and across the sparkling waters of the Gulf of Alaska. Now, as we sail the final stretch between Ketchikan and Vancouver, the world seems to slow down.

This isn’t just another day at sea. It is a day of reflection: a time to breathe in the crisp, salt-tinged air and soak up the breathtaking beauty that only the Inside Passage can offer. This May 2027 journey is personally escorted by Gina and Travis Rogers, and it has been such a deep blessing to host alongside our valued partner Jerry at Cruise and Tour Supermarket. Seeing the wonder in your eyes as we’ve shared these "cherished" moments together is exactly why we do what we do at Gina’s Adventures.

The Serenity of the Sheltered Waters

One of the most remarkable things about cruising the Inside Passage is the water itself. Unlike the open ocean, these waters are protected by thousands of islands, creating a surface so calm it often looks like a mirror. As we glide through narrow channels and wide bays, the only sound you’ll hear is the soft rhythmic wake of the ship and the distant call of an eagle.

It’s the perfect setting to kick back on your balcony with a warm cup of coffee and simply be. In our busy lives, we rarely get the chance to sit in stillness and appreciate the majesty of creation. But here, surrounded by the towering cedar and hemlock trees of the Tongass National Forest, it’s impossible not to feel a sense of gratitude. Travis and I often find ourselves leaning against the railing, just taking it all in, reminded of how fortunate we are to share this story with all of you.

Majestic Bald Eagle

Wildlife Sightings from the Deck

Even though we are nearing the end of our 15-day adventure, Alaska isn't done showing off just yet! The Inside Passage is a literal highway for wildlife. Keep your binoculars handy, because you never know when a humpback whale might breach nearby or a pod of sleek orcas might slice through the dark blue water.

Just this morning, a few of us gathered on the upper deck and witnessed a majestic bald eagle soaring just feet from the ship’s side, its white head gleaming against the deep green foliage of a passing island. These are the "lifetime" experiences that we’ve talked about since we first started planning this trip back in Fairbanks. Whether it's spotting a brown bear foraging along the shoreline or watching porpoises dance in the ship's wake, every sighting is a gift that adds another vibrant layer to our shared memories.

Reflecting on a 15-Day Journey Together

As the sun begins to dip lower in the sky, casting a soft, golden glow over the islands, it’s the natural time to look back on everything we’ve experienced. From our first transfer to the Florida airport and flight to Fairbanks, this adventure has unfolded day by day in such an unforgettable way.

Here’s the official Short Version itinerary for our journey together:

  • Day 1: Transfer to Florida Airport, flight to Fairbanks.

  • Days 1–3 (Fairbanks): Pikes Waterfront Lodge, Riverboat Discovery, Fairbanks City Tour with North Pole, Wilderness Express Domed Rail to Denali.

  • Days 4–5 (Denali): Denali Park Village, Denali Park Tundra Wildlife Tour, Denali Jeep Adventure, Denali Cabin Nite Dinner and Show, Wilderness Express to Anchorage.

  • Day 6 (Anchorage): Marriott Fairfield Inn & Suites, Alaska Wildlife Conservation Center, Turnagain Pass, Kenai Mountains.

  • Days 7–8 (Seward): Harbor 360 Hotel, Kenai Fjords National Park Glacier and Wildlife Tour.

  • Days 8–15 (Cruise - Celebrity Solstice): Hubbard Glacier, Juneau, Skagway, Icy Strait Point, Ketchikan, Inside Passage, and final destination Vancouver.

  • Day 15: Disembark in Vancouver, flight to Florida, Transfer back to Highlands County.

What makes the Inside Passage so special is that it beautifully anchors the final part of our cruise experience during Days 8–15. After the excitement of Hubbard Glacier and our port stops in Juneau, Skagway, Icy Strait Point, and Ketchikan, the Inside Passage gives us that peaceful, scenic stretch to slow down, reflect, and soak in Alaska’s final breathtaking views together.

But more than the destinations, it’s the community we’ve built that makes this trip so special. We’ve shared meals, told stories, and laughed until our sides ached. Being a "personally escorted" group means we’ve been more than just travelers; we’ve been a family on an adventure. Travis and I have truly loved getting to know each of you, hearing your stories, and seeing how this majestic land has touched your hearts.
