We always recommend starting your morning early by heading up into the "Coffee Belt." The air is a bit cooler up there, and the views of the coastline are absolutely majestic. Visiting a local plantation like Hala Tree Coffee or Heavenly Hawaiian is such a treat. You get to walk through the orchards, see the bright red coffee "cherries" on the trees, and learn about the meticulous process, from hand-picking to roasting, that goes into every cup.

There’s something so peaceful about standing in a coffee grove, surrounded by the quiet hum of nature. It’s a great time to just "kick back" and appreciate the craftsmanship that goes into a simple cup of joe. And let me tell you, when you take that first sip of 100% pure Kona coffee while looking out over the Pacific... well, it’s a little slice of heaven! Stepping Back in Time: Historic Kailua Village

Walking down Ali‘i Drive is like walking through a living history book. We love to stop by Hulihe‘e Palace, which served as a summer home for the kingdom’s monarchs. It’s a beautiful structure built from lava rock and coral lime, filled with incredible artifacts and koa wood furniture. Just across the street is Mokuaikaua Church, the oldest Christian church in Hawaii, founded by missionaries back in 1820. Standing before its stone walls, we’re often reminded of the enduring power of faith and the long history of the spirit in these islands.

Now, if you’re looking for a bit more adventure, we’ve got you covered! About 12 miles south of Kailua-Kona lies Kealakekua Bay, a marine life conservation district that offers arguably the best snorkeling in all of Hawaii.

The water here is so clear it feels like you're looking through glass. Because the bay is protected, the coral reefs are incredibly healthy and teeming with life. As soon as you dip your mask under the surface, you’ll be greeted by schools of bright yellow tangs, playful parrotfish, and maybe even a gentle sea turtle or a pod of spinner dolphins!

Most folks choose to reach the best snorkeling spots: specifically near the Captain Cook Monument: via a catamaran or zodiac boat tour. It’s such a fun way to get out on the water, feel the sea spray, and enjoy the coastal views. For the more active traveler, there’s also the option to kayak across the bay or take a vigorous hike down the Captain Cook Monument Trail. Whichever way you choose to get there, the reward is an underwater world that is truly unforgettable. Witnessing the vibrancy and diversity of life beneath the waves is a powerful reminder of the incredible world we’ve been given to explore and protect.
