It’s the oldest of the main Hawaiian islands, and you can feel that ancient, peaceful energy the moment you step off the ship. It’s lush, it’s vibrant, and it’s draped in every shade of green you can imagine. One of the best things about a Hawaii cruise itinerary like this is the overnight stay here. Usually, on a cruise, you’re looking at the clock, but in Kaua'i, the evening is yours! You can wander over to Kalapaki Beach, which is just a short stroll from the pier. It’s the perfect spot to kick back, watch the surfers, or enjoy a sunset dinner at a local spot like Duke’s.

The Magic of the Na Pali Coast

If there is one thing you must do in Kaua'i, it’s witness the Na Pali Coast. These 17 miles of jagged cliffs and hidden sea caves are inaccessible by car, which makes them feel like a secret kept just for those who seek them out.

On our second day in Kaua'i, we head inland to see one of the most stunning geological wonders in the world: Waimea Canyon.

Mark Twain once called it the "Grand Canyon of the Pacific," and the name fits perfectly. The canyon is over 3,000 feet deep and 10 miles long, showcasing a vibrant contrast of deep red soil and brilliant green flora. It’s a place that hums with a quiet power.

When we take our groups up to the lookouts, I love watching everyone's faces. There’s a moment of silence that usually happens when people first see the vastness of it. It reminds us that there is so much beauty in this world if we just take the time to look.

It’s the largest coffee grower in the U.S., and you can take a self-guided walking tour through the orchards. Tasting the fresh, island-grown coffee while looking out at the Pacific? That’s what we call "chilling" done right!
